The High Note centers around Grace Davis, a pop star with a decades-spanning career. I love pop music, so what could be more fun? A big challenge was not legally being able to use any pre-existing archival images of our star, Tracee Ellis Ross. Instead I was limited to new photos of Tracee from a shoot done for the film. I had to rely on a bit of photoshopping and period-correct design in order to convincingly convey the breadth of Grace’s career. Especially thankful to art coordinator Tara Walker for physically constructing all of these albums and to Alexandra Maziekien for assisting on graphics so I could get married.
