It was a pleasure to contribute to the set decoration of this beautifully designed film, thanks to assistant set dec Olivia Peebles. While Karen Teneyck created the handsome storefront signage, I worked closely with the film’s set dec coordinator, Zed, to clean up what seemed like a million vintage bank slips, can labels, and deeds — a small sampling below. I also got to make a few fun re-creations, including months and months of calendars past. Basically, I spent a lot of time fixating on tiny details that I knew the viewer would never see. But sometimes it helps me to remember that these details I’m worrying about may help transport the performers deeper into the world we are creating. I find re-creation pretty easy and almost calming, so it was a real treat to clean up and re-make such beautiful period graphics. Killers of the Flower Moon premiered at Cannes in May 2023. The film is nominated for a 2024 ADG Award for Period Feature Film.
